Topper Penkap has had a rough existence.

He and his fiancée, Penny, had always been inseparable, faithfully helping their human write grocery lists, reminders, and the occasional very important note.

Their lives changed one afternoon when Dad, deep in thought, absentmindedly bit Topper off the pen and accidentally dropped him beneath the refrigerator.

From his dark hiding place beneath the refrigerator, Topper could see Penny tucked behind Dad’s ear as Dad made a lackluster attempt to locate him. Helpless to do anything, Topper watched as Dad eventually made his way to the couch for an afternoon nap. Topper never saw Penny again.

Years later, the kids finally discovered him beneath the refrigerator. Unfortunately for Topper, their idea of fun involved using him as a slingshot projectile. He was launched wildly across the house, bounced off ceilings, ricocheted off walls, and eventually slipped through the couch cushions into the dusty depths below.

Despite everything, Topper never gave up hope. Over time, he made many friends who became his adopted family, but he never stopped dreaming of finding Penny and becoming a world-renowned author by her side.

His luck finally changed the day Mom decided to donate the couch. With the help of his friends, Topper discovered a note Penny had left behind and escaped the couch, setting off on an unforgettable journey to find her.

After quite an adventure, Topper and Penny were finally reunited in Nutshella, where they were married surrounded by friends.

Topper did, in fact, become a famous author and eventually settled down with Penny in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Together they were blessed with twins, a son named Theo and a daughter named Sorus.

Topper often looks back on those years of hardship and realizes he truly could not have written a more perfect ending.
